This looks like a great project to break the ice. Believe it or not I have never used a Wiki (hurry) before this class. After setting up the wiki, I believe that it would be a great place for students to build community and share their ideas.
After reading the material provided I found the following ice breakers the most intriguing;
1. What superhero are you? This survey allows you to pick a superhero that you are most like by you attitude. Very fun and sparks conversation. I am spiderman.
2. Are you a dog or cat person? Explain why. This is a topic that most people have pretty strong feelings about. I like both animals but favor dogs over cats. The discussion of why will promote more thought and discussion. Very fun non threatening.
3. Miscomm-puter-unication I think that laughter is a wonderful medicine for breaking the ice in a group. No reason it would not work well online. I am sure most people have some very funny "duh" moments to share. Or maybe I just have many?!?
Thanks Theresa
SUPERHERO
Theresa is Superman (He is the theme in my classroom)
Sara - I got Superman from the superhero survey. I think that's because at heart I'm mild mannered and nerdy like Clark Kent.
Theresa -
I am Batman, at least that is what I end up as in the survey. I thought I would be a villain however.
I am a cat person for several reasons. The first is that they kill mice, second, low maintenance overall. Third, I don't have time or the yard for a doggy. Too many dogs get neglected by not having places to roam.
On the topic of Miscomm-puter-unication, I recently viewed a site that chronicles posts from the Onion, the fake news, on Facebook. The comments from those who believe the stories are real are very humerous.http://literallyunbelievable.org/
